Emissions from the sampling burner are constantly analyzed for carbon monoxide gas. If necessary, the fan speed is adjusted by the on board CPU. If the fan speed adjustments do not resolve the combustion problem, the burner will be turned off and a potentially dangerous situation avoided. An error message will be displayed.
- Second is the FILM TYPE OVERHEAT SENSING. This senses high temperature at all positions surrounding the combustion chamber. Other manufactures only sense at one point on the combustion chamber.
Controls Two remote controls (one main control and one bath remote control) can be installed together. One Bath control comes with each unit.

Turn on your hot water faucet and water is heated instantly as it flows through the coil. Paloma's burners shut off automatically as soon as you turn off the faucet. There is NO standby heat loss.
When the water flows through the water controls and the high efficient heat exchanger, the main burner is activated by the water flow and the water pressure differential. The Paloma water heater heats water instantaneously as it flows and only when it flows. Therefore, the temperature remains the same. There is no tank with reserve water waiting to be heated. Dial setting allows you to choose anywhere between the 60ºF and 100ºF temperature rise (Model PH-12M & PH-24M).
Suitable for Residential Use Just one Paloma supplies all the hot water you need in your home for shower, bath, dishwasher, laundry, etc.... The Main Controller (UMC-117), also known as the Kitchen Controller in residential models, lets you set temperatures in 2-degree intervals between 100 and 120 F. (With professional adjustment of dipswitches in the controller, you can even go higher on the 28-R and 28-C Series models. However, Paloma recommends never making this adjustment unless you have a specific requirement for doing so hot water causes serious burns!) Temperature settings can be changed by touching in new settings at any time, even while the water is running. A Main Controller should be installed in the kitchen, laundry room or near the Paloma itself (but never outdoors).

USC1-117 Bath Controller

Bath Controllers (USC1-117 and USC2-117) are designed for safe hot water use in the bathroom. Whenever turned on, the Bath Controller takes temperature-setting priority from the Main Controller. When first turned on, the Bath Controller returns to its previous setting whatever you decide is appropriate for a comfortable bath, but never above 120 F (even if you have set the Main Controller for higher temperatures). And once hot water is running, you can raise the setting up to 112 F but no higher. If you really need higher temperatures in the bathroom, you need to close the tap and then change the setting. This way, temperatures can never be raised to higher, scalding temperatures while someone is in the shower. To return control to the Main Controller, simply turn the Bath Controller OFF. The Paloma Bath Controller is the key to the perfect shower every time. Teach your children to always turn on the Bath Controller for their shower, and it becomes the key to safe showering, too.

Location - This water heater recess box is for OUTDOOR installation ONLY, and is intended for use only with the water heater models listed above. Do not attempt to install a water heater of another brand or model in this recess box. Do not attempt to modify this recess box. Doing so will alter the intended design potentially causing an unsafe operating condition. Consult the Use and Care Manual provided with your tankless water heater for installation instructions regarding a suitable location for the water heater. All guidelines regarding clearances and distances from overhangs, windows and doors, and air inlets into the home must be followed. Recess Box Clearances - This recess box is designed to be installed with a Zero (0) clearance to combustibles. For service and proper operation, 24 Inches of clearance is required in front of the recess box. Freeze Protection - To help prevent water lines from freezing do not locate water heater on the side of a building with prevailing winter winds. Dimensions and Piping - The box extends approximately 16 inches below the bottom of the water heater. Piping for water, gas, and connections for electrical should penetrate the wall within 16 inches from the bottom of the water heater. Provisions should be made for cut off valves and service unions. Location - This pipe cover is for indoor or outdoor installations and should be installed directly to the bottom of the water heater. The water heater is not included with the pipe cover assembly. The water heater must be installed in accordance with the Use and Care Manual provided with the water heater. All considerations of the use and care manual along with any applicable local codes must be followed.
